Three Pathways for Mechanical Timepieces
From a focused calibre overhaul to a sixteen-week restoration — each service begins with a written intake and proceeds with the owner's ongoing involvement.
Back to HomeHow We Approach Every Service
Regardless of which service pathway applies to your watch, the underlying approach is the same. Work is preceded by documentation. Components are cleaned before they are inspected. Findings are shared before decisions are made. Regulation is observed over days, not hours.
This is not a transactional workshop. Each piece is treated as a distinct object with its own condition, history, and requirements. The service it receives reflects that — not a standardised procedure applied uniformly regardless of what we find.
Ultrasonic Cleaning
Staged process, solution-matched to each material
Magnified Inspection
Every pivot and jewel examined before reassembly
Correct Lubrication
Surface-specific grades, applied in correct quantity
Days of Regulation
Multi-position timing, observed across several days
Calibre Service
A structured service approach for mechanical and automatic calibres, suitable for both daily-worn references and pieces returning to regular use after storage. The work begins with a written intake assessment, photographs of the current state, and consultation with the owner about specific concerns.
The movement is fully disassembled, with each component cleaned through staged ultrasonic processes, inspected under magnification, and reassembled with carefully selected lubrication on each contact surface. Mainsprings, pivot ends, and pallet stones are evaluated and renewed where wear has progressed beyond operating tolerance. Following reassembly, the movement is regulated across multiple positions and observed over several days.
- Written intake assessment and photographs
- Full disassembly and staged ultrasonic cleaning
- Component inspection under magnification
- Mainspring and pallet stone evaluation
- Multi-position regulation over several days
Crown & Pusher Service
A focused service for crown, pusher, and winding stem assemblies on chronograph and standard references, addressing wear, impact damage, or sealing degradation. The work begins with examination of crown threading, stem engagement with the movement, pusher action, and gasket condition.
Damaged or worn components are replaced with correctly specified parts. All sealing gaskets in the assembly are renewed during the service. Following reassembly, the watch is subjected to pressure testing to verify water resistance integrity. Particularly suited for chronograph references where pusher action has become less precise with use.
- Crown threading and stem engagement inspection
- Pusher action assessment for chronograph references
- All sealing gaskets renewed during service
- Correctly specified replacement components
- Pressure testing on completion
Long-Form Restoration
An extended pathway for watches requiring comprehensive attention — typically pieces stored without service for many years, suffered impact damage, or recently acquired without service documentation. The programme combines full movement service, case and bracelet restoration with conservation in mind, gasket renewal and pressure testing, dial and hands review, and where appropriate, sourcing of correct replacement components.
The owner is consulted throughout, with key decisions confirmed in writing. Timelines run from ten to sixteen weeks — not because the work is slow, but because each stage is given the time it warrants.
- Full movement service combined with case restoration
- Bracelet service with conservation approach
- Gasket renewal and pressure testing
- Dial and hands review; correct part sourcing
- All decisions confirmed in writing with owner

Technical Protocols Across All Services
Secure Handling
Each piece is stored in labelled, individual trays throughout service. Components are never mixed between movements. The watch does not leave the atelier during the service period.
Timing Results Documented
Rate measurements taken across positions are recorded and included in the service documentation returned with the watch. You receive actual data, not a general assurance.
Owner Communication
All enquiries receive a same-day acknowledgement. Significant findings or decisions are communicated before any resulting work proceeds. You are not kept waiting for news.
Climate-Adapted Practice
KL's climate accelerates lubricant degradation and gasket wear. Our service intervals and lubricant selection account for local operating conditions, not only factory benchmarks.
Service Record Returned
Every service concludes with a written record of work performed, components renewed, and regulation results. This document belongs to the watch's history as much as to the owner.
No Surprise Charges
If findings during service indicate additional component renewal, we contact you before proceeding. Additional charges are agreed in advance — never added without your knowledge.
Send Your Enquiry and We Will Advise
Tell us your watch's brand, reference, and your main concern. We will recommend the appropriate service pathway and answer any questions before you commit to anything.
